HUYGHEBAERT AND WALL VISIT TORNADO DAMAGED AREAS
Severe damage caused by a recent tornado and
poor highways were the major concerns of residents in Neville and
Wymark when Wood River MLA Yogi Huyghebaert and Swift Current MLA
Brad Wall visited the area earlier this week.
Huyghebaert and Wall will be taking concerns of
local residents to the provincial government.
In Neville, Huyghebaert and Wall met with the
Mayor, council and staff of the village office along with local
residents to view first-hand the severe damage caused by a weekend
tornado that touched down in Neville.
“The damage caused by the tornado is quite
substantial in some parts of the community,” said Huyghebaert. “The
residents have pulled together to help each other out in this time
of need, and we will work with the people of Neville to provide as
much assistance as possible in guiding them through the process of
the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.”
In Wymark (formerly in the Swift Current
constituency and now located in the Wood River constituency),
residents came out to talk with Huyghebaert and Wall about a variety
of issues, although highways were the number one concern.
“Taxpayers in this area are frustrated with the
lack of attention and resources being committed to local highways,
specifically the Blumenhof access road, the Wymark access road, as
well other general complaints with highways 379, 363, and 43,” said
Huyghebaert.
As the local MLA for the Wymark area,
Huyghebaert will be writing directly to the Minister of Highways to
raise constituents’ specific concerns.
“We appreciated the opportunity to meet with
the residents of Neville and Wymark to discuss their concerns, and
we will be pursuing their issues on their behalf with the NDP
government,” said Wall. |
