MLA Wall Wants
Clarification of Hospital Funding,
New CT Scan
Swift Current MLA Brad Wall today wrote to
Health Minister John Nilson requesting the affirmation of the
government’s commitment to a new regional hospital in Swift Current.
“We congratulated the provincial government for
the budget announcement last spring of funding for the planning
stage of a new hospital,” said Wall. “The people of the Swift
Current constituency are now asking for a reassurance from the newly
elected government to a commitment to its share of capital funding
for a new regional hospital.”
Wall said that residents continue to inquire
about the status of the new hospital and are anxious for
construction on the facility to begin.
In addition, Wall also asked the provincial
government to reconsider its plan to provide the Cypress Health
Region with a used CT scanner instead of a new CT unit.
“We have thanked the government for recognizing
that our health region requires a CT scanner on full-time basis,”
said Wall. “However, we believe that our diagnostic health care
professionals, who have been fortunate to train on the mobile unit
shared with Moose Jaw, should now be provided with a new CT unit.”
Wall said that the government was right to move
forward with the announcement of three permanent CT scans in three
regional centres in Saskatchewan.
“The problem was that they slated the used one
for Swift Current where our professionals have acquired the
necessary experience and diagnostic skills,” he noted.
Wall concluded that a new CT unit would be an
ideal fit for the new regional hospital for the southwest. |
