Swift Current Business Excellence Awards
Mr. Wall : —
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Last night the Swift Current business
community honoured its top businesses of the year at the sixth
annual Swift Current Business Excellence Awards. I was fortunate
enough to have the opportunity to attend last night’s banquet
where there were approximately 260 people at the Legion Hall in
Swift Current. Mr. Speaker, the business people in Swift Current
and in the district take much pride in their work, and it’s
evident in the fact that there were 46 nominees in eight different
categories, Mr. Speaker. The winners this year are: Bob L’Heureux
Agencies for community involvement; Gerry and Darrin Treen and the
Treen family of Treen Packers Ltd. — they received the heritage
award; the new business award went to Quilt’s ’n Treasures Ltd.;
Ron Schultz and his wife, Luanne, and the staff at PDQ Autobody
won the customer service award for businesses under 10 employees;
and Soulstis Grower Direct was presented with the young
entrepreneur award. I’d like to make special mention of Thrifty
Foods — they picked up two awards last night. Thrifty Foods won
the business choice award and the customer service award for a
business with 10 employees and over. And finally, Mr.
Speaker, the top award, the business of the year award, was
presented to Ryan Tynning and the staff at Swift Plumbing &
Heating. Mr. Speaker, I would ask all members of the Assembly to
congratulate the winners and all of the nominees, and especially
the Chamber of Commerce who hosted a very successful sixth annual
Business Excellence Awards. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
